Steering Group

Our Steering Group is comprised of a range of influential professionals from across Scotland.  The purpose of the Steering Group is to set the focus, the strategic direction and the priorities for VINCYP (which are often reflected in the Working Groups).

The VINCYP Network:

  1. Continues to develop the national care pathway for local VINCYP teams to use in their own areas to ensure early identification of children with visual impairment.
  2. Has identified a central referral contact in each Health Board area to ensure early notification to other agencies.
  3. Works with the aim of ensuring appropriate assessment of children with visual impairment through the production of clinical guidelines and the provision of training to professionals.
  4. Has mapped the services provided by health, education and social work for children with visual impairment across Scotland.
  5. Continues to set Service Standards and Quality Indicators for local teams to work towards.
  6. Has established a national notification system for children and young people with visual impairment, building on the experience of VIS, to also enable data collection for audit and service planning.
  7. Provides training and education opportunities to enable improvement in services across Scotland.
  8. Continues to engage with parents, carers and young people with visual impairment to ascertain and act on their views.
